Royal Canin Mother & Babycat Dry Cat Food is formulated for the specific needs of growing baby kittens (1-4 months) and queen cats (pregnant or nursing).
Baby cats grow so quickly and require tailored nutrition that meets their specific needs. A mother cat’s milk has protective antibodies to support her kitten’s natural defenses. But as a baby cat transitions to eating solids, their immune systems are still developing. This “immunity gap” leaves a kitten in a fragile state. With growing bones, emerging teeth, and developing immune and digestive systems, they need the right nutrition to grow strong.
Royal Canin Mother & Babycat Dry Kibble feeds your young kitten’s magnificence from the very start with the building blocks needed for healthy growth: Essential nutrients like DHA for brain development. Immune system-strengthening antioxidants and vitamins. Highly digestible proteins and prebiotics for a maturing digestive system. And transitioning your newborn kitten to solid food is simple: The unique, tiny kibble can be rehydrated with warm water for a softer food that eases kittens to a more “grown-up” diet.

Fairly clean ingredients though it does contain corn and animal by product unfortunately. The kibble IS very very tiny for little mouths and can be soaked in water to create s soft food.
NebelungDaddy –
Great dry food for kittens with the nutrition needed to support both kittens and mother cat! So irresistible, I have to chase the father away or he’ll eat it all too! I feed the Thin Slices in Gravy wet food in addition to this product until about 3 months, when fully weened off their mother’s milk. Then I switch to the Kitten formula dry food. 4 Paws Up!
Excellent –
Excellent for my underweight nursing mom and her 5 young kittens.
Foster Mom and Babies –
As a Foster to over 160 Moms and Newborns I can say with confidence that Mother and BabyCat Wet and Dry food is a key factor in their health and development. The difference is visible in the kitten’s desire to wean and eat on their own. Moms love it ! Often times Moms are undernourished when they arrive and proper nutrition is the difference maker for both themselves and their babies starting at birth.

All of my cats choose this food over all the others. This is the preferred brand with every age.
Catherine in Portland –
This was an easy transition for our new queen mom of 6 kittens, and the small size pellets look like they’ll be a perfect first food in the next few weeks for the kittens who now have only just opened their eyes at 2 weeks old and not moved from their Mom’s choice of nesting place in a safe quiet closet.

I fostered a litter of five 6-week old kittens and this was the perfect food for them! They took to it easily and did not cause them any GI upset. I have kept two of the kittens and will soon transition them to RC Kitten.
The Cat Diva –
This is the “missing link” for weanlings: tiny kibble pieces, soft and small enough for those first baby teeth (and dense in nutrition to support and replenish mom-cat). For years this has been my go-to food for “mush-eaters”, to help transition them from milk to solid food. I like it especially for orphans, because I can leave it down when necessary for ad lib feeding, where soft food can get cold and crusty, and spoil. I have never had a kitten reject this food, whereas “kitten formula” hard foods are sometimes too big for tiny beginners. As a foster mom for my local city shelter, I make sure I have this on hand before Kitten Season even starts. Highly recommend.

My feral mommy doesn’t have enough milk unless she is eating a 5 oz can of food 2x a day. I try to spay and neuter everyone but sometimes it doesn’t work out. No matter the quality of the food, she is the first mommy that I haven’t had to finish bottle raising her kittens.
kibble –
I have older cats with dental issues. The size of this kibble is easier for them to eat.
