Royal Canin Kitten Dry Cat Food is formulated for the second stage of kittenhood (between 4 months and 1 year).
By the time a kitten gets to be around 4 months old, their growth rate slows, but their activity levels skyrocket. With intensifying energy levels, developing bones, growing muscles, and emerging teeth, older kittens need a different kind of nutrition than a younger baby cat.
Royal Canin Kitten Dry Food gives your kitten a healthy start with nutritional precision: An innovative mix of highly digestible proteins, vitamins, and other essential minerals support their maturing digestive system and keeps their growing bodies strong. And an exclusive blend of antioxidants supports their developing immune system. Transitioning from Royal Canin Mother & Babycat wet and dry formulas is easy: the small, easy-to-chew kibble made specifically for kittens’ mouths.

We found a kitten approximately 2 weeks old, as in her third week we started giving her this food. It is recommended that the first year of a cat’s life be given this food. In the photos, the kitten is already about 6 months old, I don’t know if it’s the cat’s physiology or because of the food, but compared to other cats of the same age, my kitten is bigger.

I hate the cost but my cats love this food. I tried switching them over the Kirkland Salmon and Sweet Potato but this the food they love. I don’t like the cost but love my critters.

I have a 15-year-old cat who has always eaten this brand and has excellent health, so since I adopted my kittens I did not have to think much about buying the same brand, they are strong, their hair shines and are super active, they have never got sick of anything, yes, it can be more expensive than trademarks, but you do not spend on vets by that they get sick of their stomach every while and that’s a very big relief.

My cats love this food! It’s great for kittens and nursing moms. And any other cats! It’s a bit pricey but when I consider having to buy one brand of food for one cat, another brand for the other cat, this satisfies both. They also make a good cat food for picky eaters that’s good, too, and my chihuahua won’t eat anything but Royal Canin for chihuahuas. A premium brand that I trust. Definitely check it out!

My two cats love the taste and my two dogs drool every time I serve the food to my cats. The hair grows very soft and shiny. I bought other brands, but it gives them diarrhea. In addition, it is easier to clean the sandbox when they eat Royal Canin, their stools are firmer.

I have two kittens that are already going to be the year that have benefited a lot from this food. Since they were able to eat croquettes they have been with Royal Canin (first Mother&Baby cats and then this one) and I must say we were able to check the results. Their fur is super shiny and they almost do not fight anything (my sweaters and sweatshirts HAVE NO HAIRS!) are very healthy (they have not gotten sick so far and overcame super fast sterilization) and it is not a food that makes them gain weight uncontrollably.
They will follow this diet until they are adults, the price if it is high, but it is worth every penny:)

This kitten kibble was recommended by several people, but I was shocked that after buying this very pricey large bag, the ingredients list had no real protein in the first 2-3 ingredients… which means it’s not really all that nutritious… I stopped buying it and donated it to the SPCA, switched to Blue Buffalo or Instinct brand for my kitten – real chicken or other protein as first 2 ingredients.

I volunteer at the local animal shelter and often buy this to contribute to the well being of the little kittens t here. This brand has been known for quality products. I buy the same brand for my own cat and I see the same patter. Sometimes when I purchase the food the kitten jump at it and eat with gusto and they are well and wonderful. Other times they throw up the food even if they are on it from the beginning and all goes well and then just one bag will be bad and all kittens who eat it across the board vomiot it. That can not be the thing when a cat changes diet and the bacterial flora in the stomach has to adjust etc. There must be something in the food.
I see identical situation with my cat that is on different kind of Royal Canin food. I see it being great for a while and then all of the sudden one bag will be bad. If I go back to feeding from the other bag.. all goes well… then I switch to that bad one and here we go again.
I could not help but to arrive to the conclusion that the product simply is inconsistent. This been happening for quite some time on and off like every four or five bags there will be a bust.
I learned to buy in batches and if I have a good batch I always keep couple bags aside for the time if I come across the bad one so I simply switch to the “tried and good” ones till I buy a next good batch which of course there will be coming.
I wish they had better consistency but for whatever reasons my cat prefers this kind of food over others.
One of the reasons is that the kibbles are small and I think that large kibbles of the other brands are harmful for cats teeth and stomach so here we are.
In any case overall Royal Canine is a good brand and I have been using it for my cat and the shelter donations for many years. Just be prepared and have a back up for the inconsistencies.
I think that having a back up is very important as clearly something is bothering cat’s stomach when batch is off and so you don’t want to make your kitty sick, and other then that, it is very frustrating if your cat is all of the sudden refusing to eat or vomit’s as t hen you seek in panic another brand or food for no apparent reason and the cat and you are both frustrated. So that is my tip to you – back up. Always keep couple of good backs that worked at hand. You sure will need them to ride the bad quality wave.
