Royal Canin Feline Health Indoor 7+ dry cat food is scientifically formulated for healthy aging cats 7 years and older.
Mature cats face a unique set of health challenges. Fewer playtime sessions can mean lower muscle mass. An older cat may have difficulty eating due to dental problems or a declining sense of smell and taste. And with a long life full of napping, grazing, and grooming, mature cats often have higher-than-healthy body weights and foul-smelling stool odor. What your cat eats can make all the difference.
Royal Canin Indoor 7+ dry cat food is formulated with key nutrients needed for your cat’s (7 years and older) relaxed lifestyle: A vitality complex of added vitamin C, EPA, and DHA for staying active and strong. Adapted phosphorus levels to help support renal health. Highly digestible proteins for digestive health and to help reduce litter box odors. Softer, square kibble texture for easy chewing. For variety, complement this dry kibble with our Royal Canin Intense Beauty wet cat food.

My cat has, so far, been unable to master typing. So, translating as best I can, what she would like to say is: “This Royal Canin Indoor Mature 27 Formula Dry Cat Food has been a godsend. I am finally back to eating all I want, of this great cat food, instead of eating what I could stomach of the yucky food that I had before. I am not saying that Hill’s Science Diet Age Defying Senior 11 Plus Dry Cat Food was inedible, but I sure didn’t like eating it. Some cats may love Hills. There’s just no accounting for taste. For me it just didn’t work. On the other paw, some of the stuff I see people eating I wouldn’t feed to a rat. Foie gras? Buffalo wings? Dorito shell tacos? Really? Go figure. Royal Canin really has me in mind when they make this stuff. Yum. Meow.” Well, there you have it. From what I can tell, she says “RECOMMENDED”.

I was searching for a good quality catfood that was easily chewable since one of my cats tends to spit out kibble that seems too hard for her to chew. This is the food that first came to my attention that met this criteria. A bonus was the reduced feces smell because of the food. I think all cat owners can appreciate that. I was skeptical at first, but it actually seems to do the job. I first bought it on chewy.com. And I liked that source because it ships very quickly, only a couple of days and delivery dates can be changed at will. When I found it a couple of dollars cheaper on Amazon subscribe and save, I decided to try it here. It will force me to watch consumption more closely and initially overbuy my supple to carry me through delivery times if I’ve misjudged how much I need. So far it’s working and I appreciate the cheaper price. Every dollar saved helps!

When a stray cat showed up at my door and walked right in, I knew I had to help her. She was starving to death and had a bandage around her paw that was cutting off circulation and causing her paw to swell up to three times its normal size. After getting her to the vet, I found out she was FIV+, had a rib deformity, was not microchipped, and she had a lot of dental issues. They weren’t able to guess her age with any accuracy, but because she had tender gums, I decided to try feeding her this semi-soft mature cat food.
Prior to its arrival, she was eating a variety of other things I tried, and they all seemed to make her vomit. Royal Canin did not. The vomiting stopped almost immediately after she got this food, and she has been eating it happily for several months now. I give her this as a primary food, with the occasional wet food treat on the side. Her coat has gotten much healthier, her gums are a little less swollen, and she doesn’t seem to have the constipation issues she was having before. I don’t see us switching foods as long as she continues to enjoy this one.

I love this food. My 16 year old cat used to stool outside of her litterbox somewhat frequently. In any given week she’d go on the floor at least once. If I upset her by leaving town, she’d do it as many as 3 or 4 days in a row during and after my absence. Thanks to Royal Canin Indoor Mature dry food, it doesn’t happen any more.
I had adopted my cat when I was 9 years old, and she lived in my parents’ house until I graduated from college. They dealt with her litterbox issues for 15 years, and we always assumed that her problems were behavioral and that we’d just have to deal with them. However, when I brought her to live with me, I soon realized how much of a nuisance cleaning up all that poop could be. Not to mention how embarrassing it was when my roommate found her messes. I did extensive research on litterbox avoidance, and realized that my poor kitty was showing the classic signs of litterbox avoidance because of pain. Her stools were very dry and she didn’t seem to have any regular schedule when she went. I worried about constipation, and immediately decided to transition her to a healthier food.
I gradually switched her from IAMS to the Royal Canin Adult Indoor food. As her food transitioned, so did her behavior. Her litterbox misses became much more infrequent, and her stool consistency became more normal. She began to poop almost every day, as opposed to every 2 or 3 days. She even buries about 50% of her stools now. She had never buried them before. The real test came during the past couple weeks. I’ve been traveling a lot, and away for the past 2 weekends. Ordinarily the stress of me being gone and dealing with a cat sitter would make my cat consistently avoid the box. Instead, she faithfully went in the box every day before, during, and after my weekend trips. Currently she’s at about 1 part IAMS to 6 parts Royal Canin. Can’t wait till she’s off the IAMS completely!
One thing to note- it’s very important to transition foods slowly. I stupidly tried to switch her from IAMS directly to Royal Canin and she had diarrhea for a couple of days because of it. Once I started transitioning her gradually the diarrhea went away.

When I picked up my kittens (ragdoll cats) at cat show the breeder was showing my two kittens at she showed me that they had been eating Royal Canin for kittens (the brand was also a sponser of the cat show). My two adult cats now are 11 years old and still eating Royal Canin for 7 years +, and have been of excellent health. The vet could not believe how healthy they were for 11 year old cats. Both are still energetic and play (on occasion…they are 11 after all) and run about the apartment. They are also quite alert, great hearing, eyesight, and stamina. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Royal Canin. It’s a bit more expensive but it’s done my cats well and kept them healthy.

Sometimes I forget what my cats actually like, so reviewing this will remind me exactly what to reorder next time. Indoor Mature 27 is pretty much the best product to meet the needs of my three indoor cats, including a really elderly male cat who probably should not have too much protein. This is not a grain-free product and I do blend it with several other brands and varieties that are mostly meat and vegetables – neither of which my cats like as well, but have to eat just in case cranberries, sweet potato and duck are essential dietary elements. (And would a cat in the wild really eat avocado? I have to wonder…) This particular Royal Canin variety never seems to be available at the pet food stores, and I’m just as happy to order it from Amazon though I do wish it was offered in much larger size bags as three cats make quick work of 2.5 pounds.

This is a fantastic cat food at an amazing price. It’s over $10 cheaper than the same size bag at the big box pet stores.
My 14-year-old long hair cat had been dealing with hairballs every week or so and a dull coat, so I switched from an indoor formula food to a mature hairball food by another popular leading brand that most vets feed. After 3 months, my old guy was still barfing at least 3-4 times a month. His coat did get a little softer, but the hairballs were the main issue so I started looking for another food. I decided on this one and couldn’t be happier! Bodhi seems to enjoy the taste, and my 3-year-old Maine Coon really likes it, too. After a week to transition, they’ve been eating it exclusively for about 6 weeks. In that time, Bodhi has had two hairballs but none in the last 3 weeks! I just noticed this morning how silky and shiny his coat is! Also, he’s been more playful and running through the house chasing my younger cat. The litter boxes are tucked away in a corner of each bathroom, and I’ve been nearby when they have used them. The smell of their feces is minimal and they’re small and firm. To me, this means there is less filler and junk in this food and that they are absorbing it well. Both of my cats seem happy and healthy which makes me a happy cat mom!
My younger Maine Coon’s coat is naturally a bit greasy and used to mat up really bad, but that has improved somewhat, too. She also had flakiness on her spine near her tail, and that’s gotten much better.
All in all, this may seem like a lot of money for cat food, but I’ll gladly pay it for the real improvements I’ve seen in both of my cats!

My cat mostly eats wet food, but this is her dry food staple. All her wet foods I have to rotate by the meal (can someone say spoiled) but she consistently eats this food. Also the bag lasts forever. It always expires long before she finishes – good value even though at first glance it is pricey.

My cats are now 9 years old. The last year or so, they’ve been vomiting fairly frequently after eating breakfast kibble. Their former diet was Royal Canin Sensitive Diet and Indoor Diet, both great foods before they became “seniors”. I also noticed they were having some difficulty chewing the regular indoor kibble (larger and harder pieces). I switched them to this “senior” food, and they no longer vomit and it’s easier for them to eat (smaller pieces and easier for them to chew the pieces). They both took to the new food instantly (mixed 1/2 old and new, then gradually phased out the old food). I still supplement their diet with wet food and boiled chicken (food-processed into a crumb-like consistency). So far so good!
